a bit of a stitchy catch up

by Nova on January 2, 2015

Just a couple of stitchy makes to catch up with & yes, there will be more soon!  I had the pleasure of playing with the new Flowers range from Umbrella Prints over the Christmas break & I was all set to photograph my finished project this morning when smash! the tripod fell over with camera attached & the camera is no more. Oops. Hopefully I will get some snaps by other means later on to share over the weekend.

Anyhoo, no point crying over smashed cameras –  time to play catch ups…

A covered coat hanger for a friend. If I can remember how I did it & you are keen, I might cobble together a tutorial of sorts at some point. Let me know.

the hanger inside is one of the old school wooden types that you can pick up from the craft store or the Opp Shop like I did – I think their proper purpose is to be crocheted over?

Next up, a fun pot holder with some favourite Echino prints…

A Liberty needle case for a nieces sewing kit.  I used the same formula I’ve used before on a few occasions (here, here & here &  maybe elsewhere too!  – if it ain’t broke & all that..).

a vintage shell button was the perfect match to the mauve prints…

& a stitchy make of sorts – sewn up baking bags for some festive shortbread –

& not stitchy at all but on the theme of food & pretty things, here’s  a birthday cake for a couple of friends – been loving all the pretty naked cakes that are everywhere at the moment. So, inspired by those I made them this:

I’m looking forward to a year filled with more sewing, more knitting & more cake! How about you?

I don’t like icing (eating or doing) so I find the naked cake idea very appealing!

Eek on the camera, but at least it captured lots of loveliness before its demise
