fly the flag quilt a long – week 3

by Nova on August 27, 2013

I’m going to be  taking a bit of a shortcut between weeks 3 & 4

fly the flag quilt along week 3 fly the flag quilt a long week 3

I’ve got my flags sewn onto the strips but after seeing that Tracey had quilted as she went I decided I wanted a piece of that too! So I’m going to quilt as you go in strips instead of piecing it all together then quilting it.

Luckily, here’s a tutorial I made earlier for that very technique if you fancy doing that too.

Hmm, I’m not sure I’m up for the high speed routine a twofer in weeks requires, so just imagine I did a couple of backflips along with waving my pom poms, ‘kay?

Hi Robyn,

I’ve already sewn the flags into the strips as per pattern in step 4 :)
Now I’m simply joining and quilting the 5 strips together as I go as per the tutorial link in post.
At some point you have to quilt around the flags whether that’s as per pattern or by quilting as you go – I’m just pinning them out the way so they are not flapping around.

Hope that helps clarify :)

How’s the triangle cutting going?
