I finished up my Tova dress! I love it – you can tell by the cheesy grin that I’m also wearing.
I made a medium (I’m a UK size 12 ) and didn’t need to make any alterations. Except to the length - some inner thigh wibble resulted in an extra 4″ being added to the length on the dress version.
I love that it’s smocky without oodles of gathers and feeling like you need to belt it in. It’s more a-line that tunicy if you know what I mean?
More Tova’s in various fabrics will be occurring I know it. The tank is on the list too!

Oh it looks lovely – I like the longer length very much x
you look so cute!! Fab dress
Sooooo cute!! I love the fabric you chose and that little red flower…perfection!
You look gorgeous in that dress – perfect!
Looking good Sweetie!
Love the red accents ;)
you look so pretty, nova!! i love the dress!!
Very posh! I would make one if I thought it would look even slightly as lovely on me.
OMG I LOVE this!!! I just bought Amy Butler’s Liverpool shirt/tunic/dress pattern and fabric for it, but seeing this makes me want to do this instead! It look so good and I think I probably will buy the pattern right now!
Aaaand I just bought it! I can definitely see myself making several of these! I had seen the tunic version on Jeni’s (In Color Order)blog a few times, but I didn’t know it could be a dress too! This just might make an appearance as my Easter dress :)
I love it Nova! The fabric is gorgeous too. Nice drape for the pattern. I will learn to make dresses one day… One day!
Love it!!! A very flattering style and I like your choice of fabric. I’m so glad you posted about this, as I’ve been looking for a pattern for a top for myself and now I’ve found it. I’ve just been over and bought the pattern.
Gorgeous! You look so lovely Nova :)
This looks great on you! I love the dark grey.
it looks wonderful! you look adorable in it!
Ohh! Love it and your red accessories too! Your fabric was a great choice!
Love it! Suits you completely. x
Wow! Looks fantastic, love the splash of red brooch too! I have 2 Tova’s waiting to be cut :) Have to admit I had unconsciously dismissed a dress, but this has got me over that thought! It’s great!
Beautiful! It suits you so well!
so so pretty! looks amazing on you. :)
Such a pretty dress! Now, I just gotta get a body thin enough to wear it. Sigh.
Gorgeous! Very envious!
Very nice! There aren’t as many Tova dresses around as there are tops, good to see one. I think I’d add to the length too, the pattern does seem shorter than what I’d regard as a dress. And you do know that inner thighs are *meant* to have a bit of wibble going on, right?
Look how pretty you are! love the dress!
this looks so good and now I want to make the dress too
love it!! i’ve got the dress all traced out too, just deliberating on fabric… too many options!
Nova in a Tova !
You look very nice – well done you!
Jane
I like it a lot. It’s wonderful for you to wear.
Oh, I love it on you! I’ve mostly (only?) seen this as a tunic, but the dress is something I’d actually wear. Thanks for sharing! Congrats =)
Nova you clever lady … well done!
Beautiful, Nova! Oh, I’m so exicted… I just bought the pattern! Can’t wait to get sewin’….
I love this dress!!! It looks great on you too!!!
You mentioned cotton with a splash of spandex. I’m looking at a 97% cotton/3% spandex fabric (online, which makes the selection process harder), and was worried that that might be too stretchy. Is it similar to what you used, or does yours contain less spandex?
It looks amazing, and i love the fabric you’ve chosen!
Love the fabric! I’m making my practice version now, thinking I should make the dress instead of the top! So cute!
