After making the bunting & fabric covered wire word I still had a healthy piece of the fat 1/8 th of Liberty Adelajda star print fabric that Jo had included along with my scrap pack for January’s Liberty Scrap Challenge project.
There’s a project that I have been meaning to whip up and only ever remember that I forgot to make it when I am about 30,000 feet up in the air, reaching for a yukky synthetic eye mask & wishing I had remembered to make a nice, soft cottony one.
I don’t have any imminent travel plans but a girl must be prepared! A timely reminder in a recent post from Whip Up spurred me on to get this made! I teamed the stars with a piece Liberty Ceasar to make it reversible and equally soft whichever way it’s worn. There’s a handy template over on this Tutorial that I used & I made a cover for the elastic strap (like this one) so it doesn’t get all tangled in the mop top.
So here’s my double sided / reversible, fancy pants Liberty eye mask – softness itself….
not the easiest thing to photograph buuuuuuuuuut you get the gist of how it turned out!

Oh cool super-hero sleeping mask!
I’ve never in my life worn a sleeping mask, but I’ve also never been able to sleep on a plane. Maybe this is just what I need!! With our epic trip to Europe only 6 weeks away, I think I have time to whip one up. Thanks for the great idea!
Lol, well done for managing the pic… sleep well!
A really cool looking mask..I like the pictures of you wearing it :)
Thanks for sharing these great links. I always wonder how to make a cover for the elastic strap. I might try to make one for myself for a trip in March.
Great idea for a little scrap of Liberty. I love that star print… gorgeous! And the softness…
I love this project. Well photographed :) I am traveling soon so will definitely have to make one. Maybe with lavender in it.
So beautiful!! Love the fabric choices – shame you can’t see it while your sleeping ;)
hee hee! I love it! Glad you’re finding uses for these bits of fabric I keep pestering you with ;)
