fancy a swap ?

Welcome to my stop on the ‘Sew to Swap’ bloggy book tour :)

I am hosting a little personal swap in honour of the launch! yay! read on….

sew to swap fancy a swap ?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, last year I was invited to join a swap, a few swaps actually, with lots of fabulous bloggy friends all brought together by Chrissie Grace to form the basis of her latest book ‘Sew to Swap‘ . It was such a fun project to be a part of & Chrissie has done an amazing job with the book. Clear directions, detailed instructions for all the projects plus all you need to know about joining or hosting a swap, ideas about what to swap & more! The book is peppered with little tips throughout & beautifully illustrated by Ariel. The projects all lend themselves to personal projects too without  the swap part if you so wish :)

Here’s a little sneaky peeky of the projects that I contributed to…

vintage meets modern swap … (this swap involved a swap within a swap for me. I was a bit short of vintage sheets so my sweet friend Abi in New Zealand (who I met through a quilting bee – see how this swap thing works!) kindly swapped some strips of gorgeous floraly goodness in exchange for an embroidered hoop)

a few of my favourite things swap…(Chrissie was inspired by by redwork project for this one which was such a thrill! I stitched up the cupcake block on this one)Pages from SewtoSwap fancy a swap ?[image courtesy of F+W Media]

the diamond block swap… (my first experience sewing with voiles, a slippery experience but oh so beautiful! I love how swaps make you try new things)Pages from SewtoSwap 2 fancy a swap ?[image courtesy of F+W Media]

the scrapbuster swap ..(oh so fun! loved this one :) that’s my block, top left)Pages from SewtoSwap 3 fancy a swap ?[image courtesy of F+W Media]

the wonky siggy swap (all the contributors made a wonky star & signed it. cute :))Pages from SewtoSwap 5 fancy a swap ?[image courtesy of F+W Media]

Sew to swap is available at your local library or bookstore . It can be found online at Amazon & the Book Depos plus there’s a special deal for those of you who are joining in the blog hop fun, you can get Sew to Swap now for just $14.99 ($10 off the retail price!).  Visit the Martha Pullen Online Store  and use promo code SEW2SWAP to get your exclusive discount. SOoooooooooooo……..I couldn’t let the launch of such a fun book all about swaps go by without offering up a little swap! Do you fancy a swap?

I always felt I made this cushion for someone else, was it you? Would you like to do a little swap with me? would you really?! Yay! that would be so fun :)

I loved making this pillow so much & would be so happy for it to find it’s proper home….

house cushion fancy a swap ?

Leave a comment telling me what you’d swap, I’m super easy to please, it doesn’t have to be a cushion, I like all sorts of things like potholders & tea towels, tote bags, zippy pouches, napkins, pincushions, fabric scraps & more! I have simple tastes, not too fluffy or frilly, I love blues & greys & greens. I’m a  bit partial to red & white too.  Check out my flickr faves or pinterest for inspiration :) I’ll pick out a random swapper on Monday morning (Brissie time) how does that sound?  Eek! so excited! I love a swap! (open to international swappers :)  & please note that I will be sending the cover only without the pillow form, it fits a 20″ pillow form.)

*swap is now closed, a swapper has been launched out of the random number thingy*

I feel like Noel Edmonds on  Swap shop! This  video clip will only be relevant to UK blog readers of a certain age I am sure! enjoy the trip down memory lane ;)

Hmm, I need to check if this is the book that Amazon’s holding hostage from me right now (due to supply issues) I’m sure it had scrap somewhere in the title! If not, I’ll be sure to add it.

As for a swap, oh I would so dearly love to do this, but time is so tight for creating right now… Oh, hell, I’ll throw my hat in the ring, I was going to make a giant rainbow circling geese mini anyway…

I would love to swap with you! I could make a little clutch, or a pillow cover, or anything else you would like out of vintage sheets, of course :)

All of the projects in the swap book are so sweet! I must order a copy. I would love to swap with you Nova, your adorable house pillow would be perfect on my red couch in our blue cottage! I’d happily send you one of my pin cushion/thread catchers along with something else…a scarf for next winter, or a hoop project pouch? You could decide :)

Me! Me! Me! Pretty please! I Love that cushion! It’s already in my Flickr favourites
I will make you anything you fancy, I’ve just bought a pattern for a bag I fancy trying out, or I could stitch you up a set of hoops to decorate your wall, or a cushion cover, or a mini quilt or anything you fancy.
Did I mention I love that cushion?!

Oh my!! I’d love to swap with you! I love that cushion :) I have no idea what I’d swap with you though. Maybe some fabric scraps and a hoop…or a tote bag :) I’m so indecisive. I’d definitely make it with your taste in mind! Almost forgot to say, congratulations on your fab projects in the book!

What a cute pillow! And how wonderful it would look in our familyroom with the quilt I am putting together from my participation in the 3×6 swap. I would make you a mini quilt, a fabric basket or perhaps a sweet apron for the holidays. ;o)

Sounds like a great book. I wonder if Santa might bring it to my house?
Of course, I’d love to swap too. How about a bag made from waterproof rucksack fabric? They are very handy if you like to lug around a lot as they are very light. I have some very nice green, turquoise, blue and red lying around so you could choose your favourite :-)

Nova, I am so enjoying your blog after starting to follow you on Pinterest. Mmmm what would I swap for your fabulous cushion….let’s think?? Do you think it would like a home in the Uk? Well, I have been busy making thousands of suffolk puffs over the past year (they’re destined to be part of a quilt made entirely of them) and I am likely to have lots to spare. They’re made from a a variety of new and vintage fabrics,in all manner of colours and patterns. How would you fancy some of these to do with whatever you like? They are pretty dainty, measuring approx 2.5cm in diameter (the same as a british 2 pence piece) and I have them already stitched into 7 puff hexagon shapes or singly.

I don’t have anything to swap and already have way too many things on the go… I was excited though that I understood the swap shop reference as my husband often talks about it (that and all the other tv shows and commercial jingles of his childhood -do the shake and vac anyone?) Will posh paws be doing the draw?

I would love to swap with you! That pillow is cute! I might steal your idea to make a few pillows for my sisters birthday in December! What would you like to swap a little pouch or a pillow?

I really like to give the cushion a new home. What would I swap? As I think something usefull would be nice I would make a notepad-to-go for you. Of course in a quilty scrappy style (I’ve never tried this before on this kind of project, it would be challenging and of course fun).

We’ve just moved to a new house and our bench in the kitchen is looking for some company, and it just so happens that our kitchen colours are red, white and black!

I’ve never done a swap before, total swap virgin, but I think I would make some quilted place mats.

PS – I’m in the UK and of a certain age and so the swap shop reference makes perfect sense!
