Bloggers Quilt Festival – Fall 2010

by Nova on October 31, 2010

It’s that time of year again….. The Fall Bloggers Quilt Festival hosted by Amy of Amy’s creative Side :)

Here’s my entry….

A deer quilt for a dear friend…

I finished this quilt around this time last year as a gift for our friend Lou. Of course I wanted to make it out of a htf fabric and the thrill of the hunt just added to the fun of making this quilt ;)

I was inspired by the design of this quilt that Jacquie of Tallgrass Prairie Studio made with the help of some bees. I contacted Jacquie and I asked her if she minded if I drew inspiration from it to create something similar for my friends quilt and she didn’t mind at all.

I really enjoyed making this one and though I drew out a rough plan it pretty much evolved as it went along.

For the straight line quilting, masking tape really came into it’s own!

Here’s a peek of the deer quilt in it’s ‘new’ home….lovin’ the sylin’ with the West German pottery vases…

Have you entered a quilt to the festival?  Enter or follow the Bloggers quilt festival over on Amy’s Blog (click the button below  to take you there) plus you can also see more quilts in the festival in the  flickr group. Enjoy!

Cracking quilt. I’m fortunately enough to have some of this fabric but had no idea how to use it. Ta-da! Good job!

I can’t believe you used masking tape to get your straight lines – that’s devotion to a cause!
Great quilt.

Wow! This is such a cool quilt. I really love that dot fabric you used throughout the quilt, it’s so fun! And thank you for that photograph of your quilt all taped up and ready to quilt. Silly me, I never thought of putting all the tape on at once! I just tape one row, quilt it, then go back and put on a new row and so on. Your way sounds so much easier! So thanks for sharing! And happy Blogger’s Quilt Festival to you :)

Great use of the dotted fabric. That line was in and out so fast and I just love how you used it.

Again with this fabric… love it… another one that I ‘discover’ late and miss the boat on as I am sure it is no where to be found.
